Cam Based Mechanism
Cam Box
A single cam in a box. Turn the handle and the push rod protruding from the box top moves up and down. Fit different cam profiles for different movements. |
Double Cam Box
Two cams on a single camshaft. Turn the handle and the push rods can move together or independently depending on what cam profiles you use. |
Shaker Cams
Turn the handle and the two cams on the camshaft push the vertical shaft back and forth, perfect for a dog to look quickly from side to side! |
Crank Based Mechanisms
Double Bell Crank
Turn the handle on the side of the box and the push rods move alternately up and down. Used in the Double Giraffe model here |
Crank Slider
A basic crank in a box. Turn the handle and the push rod at the top of the box makes a smooth curved motion. An excellent starting point for all sorts of models! |
Crank Box
Turn the handle and the slider on the top of the box moves back and forth. Connect up your character to the slider to bring it to life. |
Gear Based Mechanisms
Mesh Gear 11:23
Turn the handle on the side of the box and the vertical shaft rotates driven by meshing gears. |
Gear Up
Turn the handle on the side of the box and the small gear on top of the box spins fast! |
Co-Axial Gears
Turn the handle and the two vertical shafts turn on opposite directions. |
Compound Mechanisms
Gear / Crank
Turn the handle and the pinion gear drives the large gear to slowly turn large gear and crank. |
Crank / Cam
Turn the handle and the push rod makes a smooth curve while the outer push rod moves up and down quickly. Ideal for making a flapping character! |
Geneva / Crank
Turn the Geneva drive handle and the crank in the box turns round, one quarter turn at a time. |
