Cams are really useful when designing moving paper models, change the cam profile and the movement changes telling a whole new story. The Crank Cam Essential Mechanism came with a three lobed snail cam. To make the project more flexible this download is for a couple more cam profiles that can be used in the model. You’ll need the Crank/Cam kit, download these cam profiles and you can use them instead of the supplied cam.

There are two new cam profiles included in the download. Both are based on a sine wave delivering a rapid up and down motion in either direction. The three lobed design smooths out the motion compared to the snail cam design in the original design.

The four lobed cam speeds thing up delivering for stokes up and down for each turn of the handle.
