Win a copy “Make Your Own Movie Machine” !

Thu, 5 Jun 2014

I took delivery of my author’s copies of Make You Own Movie Machine earlier on, I must say they look great!

From the blurb on the back:

Discover the magic of animation with this complete guide to creating a paper zoetrope. A forefunner to the modern movie, the zoetrope offers the illusion of motion from a series of individual pictures. Suitable for ages 13 and up, the book contains simple, well illustrated instruction sfor assembling the viewer as well as a guide to desgning custom animation strips using photographs and drawings.

I have two copies of the book to give away for free. If you are paid member leave a comment below. At the end of next week I’ll draw a couple of names from the hat to pick the lucky winners. If you can’t wait you can order from Amazon USA
or pre-order from Amazon UK

I’m in for the drawing! I have a zoetrope I made using an ice cream tub (about 10 inches diameter and about 6 inches tall / about 25 cm D x 15 cm tall) that sits on a ball-bearing spinner that sometimes doesn’t hold the zoetrope adequately. Rob’s model is more compact and more stable.

    I enjoyed making the zoetrope

I enjoyed making the zoetrope and my students got a kick out of trying it. Note that the galloping horse worked  well, but the other pictures/photos didn't. I think is because the horse is solid black and contrasts well with the white background. Thanks for the cool model!
