Crab with Flexible Claws

Sun, 13 Oct 2013

My good friend #crowsnestdave took one look at the flexi-trunk elephant and suggested Crab Claws. Splendid idea said I.

I'm finishing off a couple of other projects first but I did put together a geometrically shaped shell to try out and as an aide-memoir.

It is based on the same shape as a the pop up pumpkin.

Here, one of the prototype robot arms is fitted to a disgarded pumpkin. It looks quite promising I think you'll agree.

Thanks #crowsnestdave!

It's a real thrill seeing 'crab claws' develop. Your work remains innovative and amusing and my friend Keith agrees!

    Good idea!
In fact when I saw the Flexi-trunk Elephant project I thought to make another "mashup":

to use this flexible arms/structure in the OCTOPUS:
    Another greater project by Rob!
In fact I'm working on it right now…

      Yes, interesting ideas.

      Yes, interesting ideas.

While Smelter has posted a website about it – – I am re-visiting the old thought. What if cuboid shape is used to simulate crocodile's tail by Flexible arm/trunk? While other artists' have crocodile models in their albums, Rob has yet to add one of his own kind.
