Keyboard Kat – Animated Prototype

Mon, 25 Apr 2016

I’ve put together a first draft of the Keyboard Kat mechanism. Click on the picture, left, to see it in action. It still needs a bit of work on the movement, for example, the arms need to lift a little higher but apart from that I’m pleased with how it is going. I hope you like it too!

    What’s with the red rectangle

What's with the red rectangle and dot in the animation Rob?

It's the first time I've used an external recorder to record video and I had neglected to switch the camera's hdmi output to clean. It's all set up for next time but as I'd done all the filming and editing before I noticed and as this is a prototype model I decided to cut my losses. I hope it is not too distracting – RI

The thought just occurred to me that you could practically use the same animation to design a drummer… You would then have a complete band! We already have a guitarist. Oops! I forgot about the bass.

It might also make a nice cat typing at a computer model. πŸ™‚ – RI

The "Keyboard Kat" looks very promising.

If you add some of your bellows and pipes, you easily can change it to an "Organ Ocelot" πŸ˜‰

Ha ha ! That would be awesome πŸ™‚ – RI

    I have just recently

I have just recently discovered your wonderful site! I've always been interested in crafts that move. I never new how much I needed this site! Anyway… I feel like I have missed out on all these years so I've started at the oldest blog entry and working my way back. You are a very clever man. Plus many of the commenters have amazing skills too! It will take me a while to reach the Keyboard Kat, but I can't wait!
