Interesting Links from Smelter

Sun, 21 Oct 2012

Friend of the website, Smelter, sent in some interesting links relating to items on the site. I'm adding them to the appropriate pages but so that you don't miss them I'm listing them here as well.

Curta, Mechanical Calculator: These things are fantastic!  A purely mechanical mathematical calculator.

I've added a link to the Gears from the Greeks page.

Synchronising Metronomes: Thirty two metronomes are set running. Over a period of a few minutes they synchronise their ticking. Watch the very last metronome as it goes from 180° out of synch to fully in sync with the others. Fascinating stuff!

I've added this link to the pendulum zine page.

Antikythera Mechanism: A mini documentary about the incredible Greek mechanism used to plot the position of the planets.

I've added a link from the Gears from the Greeks Page.

Thanks Smelter!
