Dino model prototype

Sat, 10 Jan 2015

Rise of the Mammals automata prototype. The dinosaur moves slowly up and down inspecting the shrew. The dinosaur is driven via via a reduction gear. The shrew is connected to a small cam on the handle drive shaft and twitches quickly up and down.

The main gear is based on the reduction gear box here and the dinosaur is a modified version of this model of an eoraptor.

There were some small mammals at the end of the age of the dinosaurs but I’m making no claims to the scientific accuracy of these characters!

Is it possible to buy the template for this model or is it exclusively for people becoming new members? It looks like a great model! I want to make it for my grandson. Thank you.

      Hello Greymalkin,

How did you find this website? You can purchase this model when it is ready without being a member. But membership has great advantages and is very reasonable so I may recommend that you become a member. Your grandson will get to learn a lot. This is a forward looking website for all ages.

        Forward looking indeed

Forward looking indeed "umehta", but I can recommend a backward look, in a "Visit the Workshop" section, where there are buttons/links to a lot of background info, to making the models Rob produces.

I absolutely agree with your comment Smelter. It is rather forward/backward looking website. Your comment reminds me of Rob's very interesting mechanism called flipflop found here http://www.robives.com/blog/flipflop

          Enjoy!
