Further experiments with Blender and 3D paper models. I'm still getting to know the interface on Blender, the learning curve is quite steep but the view from the top is good.

Some shapes are quite tricky to do free hand. I've had an idea for a pendulum powered model with a character based shell opening and closing but the shell design always seemed just out of reach. Enter Bender! This is my first attempt, it needs bit of work but I reckon it is showing promise. Notice that the net has areas that overlap each other. I did the final layout as six separate strips which I then joined together.

And here's the result. Not bad for a first draft. Couldn't have done that free hand!
