Grasshopper Escapement Progress Report.

The escapement is the part of the clock that makes it tick They come is all sorts of clever and ingenious designs. The grasshopper escapement is the special low friction escapement invented by master clock maker John Harrison and made famous in the Dava Sobel book Longitude. I've been working on a paper version which though it might not win me the longitude prize, has been fun to design. You can follow progress at the workshop notes blog.
