Surly Jack, provisional name for the toe tapping project. Tap the box and he taps his foot impatiently. Jack's head has a two axis poseable joint, that is, he can both nod and shake his head.

I've been working on the colour for the layouts. The denim texture for the shorts is from a free texture website. Thanks Six Revisions!  I've dropped the image into illustrator and added a graduated fill and dotted lines for stitching at the bottom of the leg. Looks nice yes?

Daughter #1 informs me that the footwear is known as Converse. I took a picture of some dark blue rucksack fabric then removed the colour for the textured effect. The stitching detail is again a dotted line in Illustrator. Don't worry about the details for now, there are at least two tutorials I can write about the colouring in this project so there'll be more soon!

I'm pleased with the way the leg has turned out.

The texture for the body is from a picture of one of my T-shirts. I made it fit the curved shape of the part using the warp filter in PhotoShop – more details later.

I created the robot motif in Illustrator then dropped it on top of the shirt and faded it slightly so the texture shows through. A good days work I reckon, time for a glass of red.
