I’m slowly but surely learning how laser cutting works. It’ s been a heady mix of frustrating and exciting. I’m currently working on gears.

The involute gear profiles are designed with the aid of the excellent Gear Template Generator. Nice aren’t they !

These gears are intended to be paired up to make double thickness gears.

Like this. They run together so smoothly!

Planetrary gear experiments. It works nicely but is starting to show inaccuracies casued by the width of the cutting beam. Note the gap between the annulus and the lower gear wheel.

This Vine shows the parts all dropped into place and working.
