Time to convert this paper bird from rough paper outline version to digitised version.

The first step is the hardest, or at least the most unnerving. I need to take a scalpel and scissors to the model and cut it into pieces ready to be scanned.

I’ve scanned both body sides, one showing the outside, the other showing the inside so that I can see where the internal pieces were glued.

The scan is dropped into Illustrator where I carefully trace the pieces.

The moment of truth, does it go back together? Yes it does!

Here you can see how the legs fit into the body.

Next step is to make some minor tweeks then add the lower beak and wing linkages.
