All the parts done and the layout complete. Just need to add colour!

Dial in the combination...

Slide down the sleeve...

Open the drawer. Ta daa!

One question. At the moment, the side of the box is open, I'm a mechanism geek so I like to see what is going on but it does mean that you can open the lock just by looking. Should it be covered? Should I make covered mechanism an option?

Details of the drawer showing the flush mounted handle which gives you something to grab whilst at the same time allowing the sleeve to shut over the drawer front.

A cover option would be great. I'm actually using your lock mechanisms to keep thing safe :)

I like seeing how things work. I would leave it open. If you wanted to have it both ways you can have an optional cover that could be added to the model at any time.

I have to say I would also like a covered version as an option.  Either way though, I'm stoked to build one.  Thanks again Rob.

I prefer to see how things work. But isn't it a feature of a safe to hide things? So, an optional cover would be perfect.

All in all an amazing addition to your paper locksmith work, Rob.

This construction is very successful. I also like to see what is going. Maybe you can cover it with a symbolic paper lattice  in part.

This item is so exciting, Rob. I can hardly wait to get my hands on it to construct. As far as I'm concerned, I think the mechanism should be covered. But I'm sure there will be others that will wish it to be open, so I believe an option to do either would be a nice way to go. That adds a bit more complication for you, but would satisfy everyone.

I agree, however, if it is covered, people won't know if the lock used is real or paper!

This is just what I've been looking for! I've been working on reengineering the 1986 Broderbund Mechanical Bank. I have about half the pieces redrawn. The most serious flaw I saw in the design was a way to get the coins out. Now, put the safe and drawer under it and dress it up to match, and voi'la! A secure cat bank!
