is an interesting mechanism. The model is designed to be a starting point. From here it should be possible to design all sorts of interesting variations doing all kinds of things.

I made this with the "assistance" of my 5-year old son today (he loves robot) and we had a great time. He is taking it to school for news on Friday (his news day). However, I found that I needed extra coins. Obviously Aussie coins are lighter per size. Size is a good indicator, particularly for fit, but an approximate weight estimate as well would be helpful as I found it quite difficult after the fact to add the extra coin needed to enable the robot to return. Other than that, loads of fun. Thank you from my son and me.

That sounds like fun Megan! The coins I used are 2p pieces. According to my coffee beans scales they weigh 7.2 grams each (roughly 1/4 ounce). I'll add this info to later models.

Thanks, Rob. I have made a note on the instructions sheet. Our 10c piece, which is about the same size is only just over 4g, so that makes quite a difference. Christopher's class loved the robot. He is planning on taking the twister mechanism with aeroplane for news this week.
